Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using MECH (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you are under the age of 18, you may only use MECH with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
2. Description of the service
MECH is a gamified learning platform for FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics. It provides lessons, quizzes, practice sessions, competitive arena challenges, leaderboards, streaks, and a virtual reward economy. MECH is an independent educational product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by FIRST® or the FIRST Tech Challenge program.
We may add, change, suspend, or remove features, lessons, or game mechanics at any time to improve the Service.
3. User accounts and responsibilities
- You must provide accurate account information and keep it current.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- One person, one account. Accounts may not be shared, sold, or transferred.
- Notify us at support@mechlearn.app immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- Cheat, automate gameplay, or use bots, scripts, or macros to earn XP, Elo, gems, or leaderboard rank
- Exploit bugs, tamper with app or network requests, or attempt to manipulate the virtual economy
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to access non-public parts of the Service
- Impersonate another person, team, or MECH staff, or misrepresent your affiliation
- Upload or submit harassing, hateful, obscene, or unlawful content, including in usernames
- Scrape, resell, or redistribute MECH content or data without written permission
- Interfere with the Service, its security, or other users’ access to it
We may suspend or terminate accounts, reset progress, or revoke virtual currency for violations, at our discretion and without refund.
5. Virtual currency and items
- Gems, hearts, XP, Elo, and streaks are virtual items with no real-world value.
- Virtual currency is not money, is not a stored-value or financial instrument, and cannot be redeemed for cash, goods, or transferred outside the Service.
- Purchases of virtual currency or items are final and non-refundable except where required by law or by the applicable app store’s policies.
- You receive a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable license to use virtual items within MECH. You do not own them.
- We may change pricing, earn rates, balances, or availability of virtual items at any time, and virtual items may be removed if your account is terminated or the Service is discontinued.
6. Subscriptions and payments
- MECH Pro is an optional subscription priced at $4.99 per month (or the equivalent local price), including a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. Your payment method will be charged at the start of each billing period.
- You can cancel at any time from your profile settings or through the app store that manages your subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Cancelling during the free trial prevents any charge. Once a billing period starts, fees for that period are non-refundable except where required by law.
- Payments are processed by Stripe or the applicable app store. We do not store your full card details.
- We may change subscription pricing with advance notice; changes apply to billing periods after the notice.
7. Intellectual property
All content in the Service — lessons, questions, explanations, text, graphics, icons, illustrations, audio, software, and the MECH name and wordmark — is owned by MECH or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You receive a limited, personal, non-commercial license to use the Service for learning. You may not copy, reproduce, publish, distribute, or create derivative works from MECH content without our prior written consent. Feedback you send us may be used without restriction or compensation.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that progress or virtual items will never be lost, or that educational content is complete, current, or accurate for any competition, inspection, or rules decision. Always confirm competition rules with official FIRST Tech Challenge documentation.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MECH AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, PROGRESS, OR VIRTUAL ITEMS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) $50 USD. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Termination
You may stop using MECH and delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections covering intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law survive termination.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Texas have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service.
